Note Location Change: Argonne Library – 4322 North Argonne Road, Spokane, WA 99212.

A presentation on Vi and Vim. Bring your Windows notebook or tablet PC. We’ll install VsVim or ViEmu for Visual Studio and cover a short history of the editor followed by a hands on tutorial/demonstration. You’ll learn many benefits of using Vi over traditional Windows text editors, such as efficient file navigation, how to use multiple clipboards, bookmarks and complex repeated operations, all without leaving the keyboard!

Tom Faust has over 35 years of software development experience in many environments including various flavors of Unix, Linux and Windows. He has developed a low level support system for user interfaces, system utility programs, a database engine, text viewers, editors and many other applications. These days his spare time is spent on 20 acres in Chattaroy, Washington with his wife Tricia, tending to horses, chickens, cats, a dog and a garden.

“Everyone should use Vi .. it’s that good!”
